Jonathan Falvo
Jonathon Falvo is in his first year as the Head Coach of the Olentangy Liberty Ice Hockey team, bringing with him over 4 years of experience in coaching and player development. Falvo grew up playing hockey in Detroit Michigan where he played tier 1 AAA. He left AAA to join Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory Hockey Team where he won a state championship as a senior captain. He also earned the distinction of Honorable Mention All-State. Falvo then joined Miami University’s ACHA hockey team where he was a vital component for multiple national championship runs. Coach Falvo has a deep understanding of the game and a passion for fostering young talent. He has coached with assistant coach Ryan Welsh and under their leadership, the JV team at Liberty saw significant improvements in performance and team cohesion. Under Falvo and Welsh, OLHS has won 3 of the past 4 JV CBJ Cups. Coach Falvo lives in Powell with his wife Sara. They are expecting their first child in summer 2024.
Ryan Welsh
Varsity assistant Coach Ryan Welsh has 5 years of coaching experience at the high school level. He started his coaching career in 2019 at Liberty, and since then has led the JV team to 4 CBJ cup titles. He has also taken the JV team to states many of times, making it as far as the semi finals. While coaching JV, Coach Welsh also assisted the varsity program, helping them in winning district titles, CBJ cups, and a state championship. Coach Welsh is a 2015 graduate of Olentangy Orange high school where he helped win the schools first CBJ Cup, and has been playing hockey since he was 3. He places a high value on development and creating a great locker room culture.
Zach Vallette
Zach is in his first year being a coach at Olentangy Liberty. With over a decade of dedicated involvement in the sport. Zach has coaching experience across various age groups and levels. Demonstrating a commitment to excellence and a passion for the game. His main focus in coaching is developing players to have the skills and knowledge to play in any system and any situation. Zach is currently a school counselor and has a two-year-old daughter who is just learning how to skate.
